AmericanAg appoints Boris CEO as Katz set to retire
Reinsurance provider AmericanAg has appointed Andrew Boris to succeed CEO Janet Katz, who will retire on April 1.
Boris has served as AmericanAg’s general counsel and secretary since 2014. Prior to joining the reinsurer, he worked as a lawyer for nearly 20 years, focusing on reinsurance and insurance issues.
CEO Katz is set to retire after more than 30 years with AmericanAg. She joined the company in 1989 as an actuarial trainee and rose through various leadership roles before taking over as CEO.
Zippy Duvall, president of AmericanAg, said: “Janet has been a remarkable leader. She has guided AmericanAg through one of the most challenging and complex periods in our industry with a steadfast commitment to our employees, clients, stakeholders, and reinsurance partners. We are grateful to her and wish her the best in retirement.”
Katz said: “The board of directors and I have great confidence in Andrew as the next executive vice president and CEO.
“He has been a key part of our executive leadership team for the last seven years, and his background and dedication to the company have positioned him well to lead us into the future.”
AmericanAg, which specializes in providing Farm Bureau insurance companies with reinsurance, has been working to expand its footprint through its international broker-led portfolio.
In June, the reinsurance provider hired Doug Nuehring as assistant vice president of underwriting and marketing.
