The Florida Senate on Thursday passed a property insurance bill that reforms roof litigation and reduces Citizens Property Insurance Corp’s policy count, as the state’s House of Representatives debate a similar measure.

Senate bill SB 1728 contains a highly debated provision that could cause homeowners to face a new deductible for roof-damage claims.
