In response to Demotech's warning of downgrades for roughly 17 homeowners' carriers, Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (Floir) Commissioner David Altmaier has sent Demotech president Joe Petrelli a letter criticizing the ratings agency's rating methods and inquiring for more information.

The news came just as Inside P&C reported that Demotech had sent out letters to the Florida carriers it rates, advising that more than 15 carriers are in danger of a downgrade.
