James River reported a 1.3-point deterioration in its Q2 combined ratio to 91%, but the carrier’s casualty re unit swung to an underwriting profit – a sign that the firm’s turnaround plans are on the right track.

The Bermudian’s casualty re CoR improved 16 points to 93.2%, offset by a 4.6-point deterioration in the specialty segment’s CoR to 93.1%
