The US National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) has received 39,000 claims and paid out $77mn to policyholders, including $56mn in advance payments, it said yesterday.

This was a step up on initial figures, published a week after Hurricane Ian made landfall, when the claims count stood at 25,000 and the advanced pay-out figure was $3.5mn.
